General Information:

James Madison University's Facilities Management is currently seeking an Emergency Lighting Technician.

This position is responsible for the maintenance of emergency lighting systems and emergency power systems throughout the campus, preventative maintenance on emergency lighting systems, emergency power systems and other support systems to include automatic transfer switches and monitoring systems.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

Perform monthly Emergency Lighting checks per NFPA code and track all required follow on maintenance for failed lighting.

Perform maintenance to Emergency lighting systems as required to meet inspections requirements.

Perform general preventative and repair maintenance on emergency power generators, transfer switches, and monitoring systems, as necessary, to support building emergency circuits and systems.

Participate in On-call schedule.

May be required to temporarily perform other duties or work other shifts as assigned.

 

Qualifications:

Knowledge of emergency lighting and power systems.

General knowledge of preventative maintenance practices as related to
emergency power generators and lighting systems.

Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Mechanically and electrically inclined with a strong ability to read and
understand wiring diagrams and building blue prints.

Ability to learn new equipment and systems as they are added.

Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Basic computer skills with Microsoft Office.

Driver's License.

Knowledge of NFPA code, as it relates to emergency lighting, is beneficial.

 

Conditions of Employment:  

Employment is contingent upon the successful completion of a criminal background check.
