Job Duties
Manages the compliance and enforcement programs in the field office to ensure that public drinking water follows the federal Safe Drinking Water Act (SDWA) and the Waterworks Regulations. This may include supervision of field office staff including Environmental Health Technical Specialists. This is accomplished through managing databases; monitoring surveillance activities; initiating violation notices and enforcement actions; ensuring waterworks data is current and accurate; and providing technical assistance and training to ODW staff and waterworks owners/operators. Interprets and applies public health laws, regulations, policies, and procedures concerning public drinking water to determine compliance and reduce risks to the public’s health.
The is to a restricted position which is solely funded by PWSS for a one (1) year period ending June 30th, 2026. The availability of funding is scheduled for review annually before June 30th, 2026 and periodically thereafter. Continued employment is contingent on the continued availability of grant or non-general funds.
Minimum Qualifications
1. Working knowledge of biology, microbiology, chemistry, and math
2. Knowledge of technology associated with provision of drinking water
3. Ability to use computers for word processing and data management
4. Excellent communications skills in English in writing, orally, interpersonally, and before groups and public meetings
5. Experience in determining compliance and enforcement actions
6. Ability to read, interpret, and communicate law, regulations, policies, and technical documents.
7. Working knowledge of drinking water regulations and knowledge of technologies associated with provision of drinking water.
Additional Considerations
1. Ability to manage a regulatory program
2. Experience in data analysis, data mining, business analysis, data management, or similar.
