ERA Analyst/Developer, Senior - OSP

University of Virginia: OSP Senior ERA Analyst/Developer - Charlottesville, VA.

DUTIES:
  • Create views, maintain research specific tables and queries to support research administration.
  • Create and maintain scripts that will transform, analyze data for quality, consistency and validity.
  • Identify the need for data cleanups where appropriate and execute cleanups for senior and management members of OSP.
  • Create reports, data files and applications based on end-user needs.
  • Perform detailed testing to ensure that data modifications and/or system modifications were performed properly.
  • Schedule/prepare/synthesize/publish data and reports for OSP management team and customers.
  • Present data in a way that can be easily and quickly grasped by stakeholders.
  • Work to ensure that data generation and data standards in research administration at UVA satisfy current business requirements and provide flexibility for the future.
  • Ensure that policies governing data management are met, including security and privacy.
  • Perform daily work without supervisory intervention; work with supervisor to align solutions with office priorities and resources.
  • Partner with ERA team members in supporting a varied and wide-array of technical activities such as research-critical and time-sensitive reports, systems and services.
  • Lead technical, reporting and application resources to analyze and resolve production issues.
  • Determine and recommend optimal problem solutions within cost/performance objectives.
  • Function in project capacities including, but not limited to developing and evaluating functional requirements, functional design, functional configuration, testing and documentation.
  • Function as a critical training resource for ERA team with regard to SQL, applications written, R, Python and server activities.
  • Work with supervisor and ERA team to develop, maintain and disseminate standard operating procedures and to ensure the scripts/apps/code developed is sustainable and properly vetted/documented.
  • Assist in the reengineering of processes as appropriate and anticipate ways to measure those processes/functions.
  • Ensure SOPs are being followed with appropriate internal controls, ensuring the generation of high-quality data and reports.
  • Create scripts using external system API’s to access research data for use with UVA OSP data, to validate and generate research specific reporting requirements.
  • Other duties as assigned within area of responsibility.


REQUIREMENTS: Master’s degree in Computer Science, Business Intelligence or related technical discipline and demonstrated knowledge of data analysis, interpretation and application.

Any amount of experience with or demonstrated knowledge of:
  • Database management and/or warehousing
  • SQL, Python, R and/or C++
  • Oral and written data presentations
  • Mining databases, cleaning data and consolidating information to ensure accurate reporting
  • Writing and/or automating scripts


Telework: Hybrid position; part-time telecommuting authorized.
