Job Duties:

The Division for Community Living within the Department for Aging and Rehabilitative Services (DARS), in collaboration with community partners, provides and advocates for resources and services to improve the employment, quality of life, security and independence of older Virginians, Virginians with disabilities, and their families.

The Division of Community Living is seeking a Farm Market Fresh Program Specialist (Wage) to conduct outreach and coordinate information and material dissemination to AAAs, WICs, farmers, and partner organizations for Virginia’s Farm Market Fresh program, also known as the Senior and WIC Farmers’ Market Program (S/FMNP).

Assist the Coordinator with the implementation of the program’s requirements and modifications by collecting and analyzing feedback from key stakeholders to gauge satisfaction and success. Provide technical assistance to new users for the electronic solution payment platform. Prepare statistical and narrative reports, as needed. Assist the Farm Market Coordinator with evaluating and measuring grant outcomes.

Driving a car is required to conduct monitoring duties in the field.

This is a wage (part-time) position and will work on average of 29 hours a week and can’t exceed 1500 hours during their employment year. This position does not include health insurance, retirement or leave.

Minimum Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have:

Knowledge/Experience -

Knowledge of the food security issues related to the responsibilities of this position. Experience or training in health education/promotion, health/nutrition science, business management, public health, or related field. Valid Driver's License.

Skills/Abilities -

Skills in using a personal computer and a variety of office software and electronic platforms.

Demonstrated ability to organize work and communicate effectively both orally and in writing. Ability to collaborate with a variety of partners, manage multiple priorities, evaluate program operations, prepare statistical and narrative reports, analyze various types of information, and monitor programs.
