The School of Nursing at the University of Virginia invites applications for a new Financial Aid Coordinator. Position Summary:

The Coordinator is responsible for all activities related to student scholarships and financial aid in the School of Nursing including: scholarship packages for all new and continuing nursing students in keeping with federal and state regulations, university endowment policies and donor restrictions; maintaining the award and scholarship database in coordination with internal and external partners; and writing and maintaining reports to meet compliance for grants and funding sources for recruitment, enrollment, student scholarships, and financial aid. The Financial Aid Coordinator participates in institutional initiatives that support process improvement in financial aid administration and donor stewardship. This position will report to the School’s Senior Associate Dean for Administration.

** This is a 5-year term limited restricted position; continuation is based on funding and satisfactory performance. **

Responsibilities:
  • Award and manage all School of Nursing scholarships following, institutional, state, and federal requirements.
  • Work with School of Nursing faculty to manage Graduate Assistant hiring and payment.
  • Communicate financial aid information to prospective and current students through email, phone, and in-person and virtual presentations.
  • Write and maintain reports to meet compliance for grants and funding sources for recruitment, enrollment, student scholarships, and financial aid.
  • Advise students, faculty, and staff on financial aid and scholarship policies.
  • Collaborate with Development and Alumni office and school finance personnel to appropriately steward all awards.
  • Connect students with appropriate financial aid and finance related resources.


Required Qualifications:
  • Associate’s degree, preferably with a financial aid/financial analyst background.
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal, written, and verbal communications skills are imperative.
  • Ability to interpret and apply policy in daily work is essential.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and projects, as well as the ability to work independently and with a diverse team.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products, and the ability to quickly learn new software is essential.


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree
  • Two years of experience working in financial aid or student services; experience gained while pursuing a degree will be considered.
  • Preference will be given to applicants with specialized knowledge of federal, state, and university financial aid and award programs, regulations, and guidelines.
  • Experience collaborating with individuals from diverse backgrounds
  • Previous database management software use including PeopleSoft, Slate, Oracle.


Compensation:

The Anticipated Hiring Range for this position is $50,000 - $55,000 . This is a full-time position with UVA benefits . Employee benefits package highlights include:
