Job Duties

The Virginia Center for Behavioral Rehabilitation (VCBR), located in Burkeville, Virginia, is seeking a Food Service Supervisor- Resident Transitions.

The Virginia Center for Behavioral Rehabilitation (VCBR) is a behavioral treatment center recognized for its excellence in securely housing and treating civilly committed sex offenders. Through timely, consistent and fair and equitable program application, VCBR promotes self-recovery and self-determination of committed population. All contact between staff and residents is deemed therapeutic.

The Food Service Department strives to efficiently and effectively provide food that meets the nutritional needs of the residents. The department also seeks to provide high customer satisfaction with enjoyable meals that are on time and the correct temperature.

This position will supervise the transition residents assigned to the purchasing, preparation, service and accuracy of all transitional meals. This individual may share opening and closing operations supervision to closely monitor food quality, quality of service delivery, safety, and sanitation in a 7 day per week, 16 hour per day operation. The ideal candidate will ensure customer satisfaction and take an active role in both the identification and correction of departmental improvement plans as well as assist in providing coverage and support operations in the kitchen and cafeteria, as needed. The position is considered essential to operations and will be required to perform any/all duties as listed in Employee Work Profile (EWP) during emergency situations.

Knowledge and demonstrated experience regarding large scale food preparation techniques, procedures and equipment is essential. The successful candidate will communicate effectively and maintain working relationships with representatives outside the agency and at all levels of the organization using tact, courtesy and good judgment. The ability to work independently and utilize appropriate problem-solving and decision-making skills is critical to being successful in this position. The right candidate will also have basic experience in Microsoft Office applications, e.g. Outlook, Word, and Excel.

The ideal candidate will have the ability to address resident complaints, develop, interpret and apply policies and procedures, train, supervise, manage and coordinate the work of others and provide direction to solve any issues related to maintenance, quality assurance and personnel.

Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or GED (information must be included in application).

Valid Virginia Driver’s license (licensure information must be included in application).

Additional Considerations

Safe-Serve certification.

Experience working in a forensic mental health or comparable setting.

Experience working with sex offenders in a clinical role.

Experience working in a Food Service setting.
