Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) School of Medicine is a premier academic medical center located in the heart of Richmond. Accounting for almost half of VCU’s sponsored research, the School of Medicine is internationally recognized for patient care and education.

Position Summary:

Completing all aspects of the document review and destruction process of inactive faculty personnel files for the School of Medicine. This includes ensuring compliance with Commonwealth of Virginia record retention requirements and record disposal while maintaining a high level of confidentiality.

Position Responsibilities:
  • Separate documents into specific categories for destruction
  • Maintain records of documents that are to be disposed
  • Handle and transport documents securely to prevent unauthorized access
  • Ensure workplace safety by adhering to VCU’s regulations and procedures
  • Occasionally assist in other duties as needed

Required Qualifications:
  • Attention to detail
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Ability to operate and maintain general office equipment
  • Understanding of security protocols and procedures
  • Ability to lift heavy boxes of documents
  • Understanding of data protection regulations, and adherence to VCU policies and procedures
  • Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and privacy
  • Demonstrated experience working in and fostering an environment of respect, professionalism and civility with a population of faculty, staff, and students from various backgrounds and experiences, or a commitment to do so as a staff member at VCU.
