Job Duties

The Virginia State Police is seeking a reliable, positive, professional, and detailed oriented person, as well as team player to serve as a full time Housekeeping Worker at State Police Headquarters in North Chesterfield, Virginia. The person in the position will be responsible for ensuring the cleanliness and professional appearance of the State Police Academy and Physical Training Building. As Housekeeping Worker, your duties will include cleaning, maintenance, and maintaining housekeeping supplies to ensure adequate supplies are on hand.

•Cleans and maintains the Academy and Physical Training Building.
•Maintains necessary quantities of housekeeping supplies at the Academy supply rooms.
•Manages linen and paper product supply.
•Assists and coordinates with the maintenance of the Academy.
•Assists with the performance of routine repairs and maintenance of the Academy.
•Handles delivery of office supplies to the Academy.
•Maintains professional conduct with management, co-workers, Department employees, as well as outside agencies and citizens.
•Ensures an acceptable level of attendance and punctuality is maintained
•Completes all other assigned tasks.
•Maintains strong professional relationships with co-workers, as well as supervisors.

Minimum Qualifications

•Working knowledge of cleaning methods and use of cleaning chemicals, equipment, and supplies; and of safety practices related to custodial work.
•Demonstrated ability to read, comprehend, and follow oral and written instructions, rules and regulations; to organize and perform tasks pertaining to housekeeping duties; to order and maintain supplies; to maintain good working relationships with co-workers, supervisors, and the general public; to perform a variety of cleaning tasks; to lift heavy objects; to stand for extended periods of time; to work independently and as a member of a team; to communicate effectively orally and in writing in English; and o lift up to 10 pounds unassisted.
•High school graduate or equivalent or ability to obtain a GED within six months from hire.
•Possess valid driver’s license.
