The IPM Program Senior supports the UMW Landscape and Grounds (L&G) department mission of maintaining the campus landscape in a safe, effective, horticulturally sound, environmentally healthy and aesthetically pleasing manner.

Candidates will be:

* Responsible for the development, implementation, management and maintenance of effective Integrated Pest Management and Nutrient Management Plan initiatives.
* Perform and supervise comprehensive landscape and grounds maintenance tasks and projects effectively across multiple UMW campuses and additional university properties.
* Collaborate independently and/or in conjunction with the Landscape and Grounds crew and university contractors to deliver services aimed at maintaining the campus landscape environment in a safe, clean and aesthetically appealing condition.


To be successful in this position, you must:
-- possess a current, valid VDACS Commercial Applicator's Certifications: 3A, 3B.
-- have a comprehensive understanding of Integrated Pest Management principles, including, but not limited to pest life cycles, action thresholds, monitoring pest activity, prevention/control methods and the judicious use of pesticides.
-- be highly organized.
-- possess an extensive understanding of Virginia's Nutrient Management Plan principles, including, but not limited to surface water hydrology, nutrient pollution, soil fertility maintenance and pH, compaction mitigation and soil health.
--- have a thorough understanding of chemical Safety Data Sheets (SDS) and associated record keeping ability.
-- be familiar with and proven implementation of Virginia Nursery and Landscape Association (VNLA) horticultural practices.
-- offer measurable, extensive experience and proficiency in the identification of arthropod pests, fungal pathogens and fertility deficiencies.

The salary range is: $43,860-45,000.

This position has been deemed essential as defined in Policy No. 1.04 of the Department of Personnel and Training Policies and Procedures Manual.
