Job Duties
This position is a member of the Office of Law Enforcement Services Unit. The primary objective of this position within ITU is to deliver quality Analytical Support through effective systems, assists in case development and resolution by synthesizing or integrating analysis of data to discover facts; performs necessary research for criminal and intelligence data analysis and systems administration support tasks to ensure computer applications will assist DOC in achieving its day-to-day mission.
Ensure compliance with OLES, VITA and DOC standards and procedures, and support
the unit by collecting, analyzing crime data, and interpreting data to improve decision-making, operational effectiveness, and public safety outcomes. This position will apply data analysis techniques to help the unit to identify patterns, trends, and insights from crime data, investigations, and other sources of information.
Minimum Qualifications
High School Diploma or equivalent. Knowledge/experience with criminal theory and practice, investigating techniques, and Law Enforcement organizational structure. Experience with personal computers to include word processing, statistical application programs and relational databases, GIS, spreadsheets and linking software. Knowledge/experience with internet research techniques and various commercial databases. Knowledge of highly specialized case management, intelligence, and charting computer software. Database management and analysis, crime and law enforcement operations, privacy laws, technical proficiency in data tools, attention to detail. Experience with developing and maintaining database programs for law enforcement, Investigators and public audiences; instructs others in the use of crime and intelligence analysis and how to interpret statistical information; creates and distributes intelligence.
Additional Considerations
Some experience in the Law Enforcement environment, Crime Analysis or Data Analyst. Experience using PenLink and Axon Systems.
