Job Duties
Sitter & Barfoot Veterans Care Center is seeking a Lead IT Engineer to support the IT operations of the facility by providing day to day technical support. They will be responsible for fulfilling service requests, resolving network, software, and hardware incidents, and act as local security officer responsible for ensuring compliance with the Virginia Information Technology Agency (VITA), Department of Veterans Services’ policies and guidelines, and state and federal statutes governing collection and security of data. This position will report to the Director of IT Infrastructure.
Summary of Responsibilities:
• Support the IT Service Desk and triage IT issues.
• Resolve network and infrastructure issues.
• Set up, configure, manage and troubleshoot routers, switches, and wireless access points.
• Resolve issues related to desktop and laptop PC hardware, desktop software, general application troubleshooting, mobile devices, and various telephone systems.
• Identify security vulnerabilities and report security incidents promptly.
• Track end-user support activities through the ticketing system.
• Participate in special projects assigned by SBVCC and/or IT Leadership.
• Monitor network and computer systems performance.
• Coach and manage daily duties of the contracted on-site engineer.
• Track all IT assets.
• Document any changes to systems, update training and system documentation, and create new procedures to solutions and issues and problems.
• A clean driving record and dependable transportation is required for occasional light travel to satellite offices utilizing your personal vehicle.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
• High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent Diploma
• 8 Years of prior experience in an IT Service Desk and/or Network/Infrastructure Support position.
• Ability to set up, configure, upgrade, manage, and troubleshoot networks, hardware, and software.
• Ability to perform hands-on and in-depth technical installation, configuration, troubleshooting, maintenance, and recovery of key agency assets and capabilities.
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel to include the ability to create functions, pivot tables, and charts.
• Demonstrated experience in being able to apply IT in solving business problems.
• Demonstrated ability to effectively investigate, analyze, and resolve complex technical issues.
• Proficient in MS Office 365 with strong MS Excel support capabilities.
• Strong written and verbal communication.
Additional Considerations
• Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or other related field of study.
• MSCE Certification preferred.
