Logistics Coordinator

Facilities Management at the University of Virginia is looking for a Logistics Coordinator to help support the University's broader goals and initiatives by supporting the receiving, storage, processing, and distribution of maintenance and construction materials in a fast-paced warehouse environment.

Position Summary

The ideal candidate prioritizes safety in everything they do, works well as part of a team, and brings strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills to collaborate well with others. The ability to confidently read and follow work instructions and safety procedures, along with solid data entry skills and attention to detail, round out the role. This position works under direct supervision, following established guidelines and procedures, and offers the chance to be part of a safety-minded, collaborative team that supports the University's mission on Grounds.

Work Shift Hours: Mon-Fri 7:00am-3:30pm

Responsibilities
  • Send, receive, pick-up, deliver, load, unload, inspect quality of, and ensure correct quantities of inventory items.
  • Match deliveries to purchase orders and store items within facilities.
  • Communicate effectively and consistently with customers.
  • Utilize electronic tracking systems to manage operations and communication with customers.
  • Prioritize a safe work environment and overall cleanliness of facilities.
  • Facilitate mail operations as needed.
  • Provide operational coverage at other logistics locations as needed.
  • May use forklifts, motorized pallet trucks, dollies, or other equipment necessary to accomplish tasks.
  • In addition to the above job responsibilities, other duties may be assigned.


Minimum Qualifications
  • Education: High School Graduate or equivalent required. Associate’s degree preferred
  • Experience: 3 years’ relevant experience
  • Licensure/Certifications: Valid driver’s license with a zero or positive points balance, to be maintained throughout employment. Forklift license within 6 months of employment.


Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience: 5 years’ relevant experience


Physical Demands

Job requires standing for prolonged periods, frequently bending/stooping/traveling, climbing (ladder, steps) and reaching (overhead, extensive, repetitive). Proficient communicative, auditory and visual skills; Attention to detail and ability to write legibly; Ability to lift/push/pull 50-100 lbs. May be exposed to, cold and heat.

Salary Range
  • The anticipated hiring range is $19-$23 per hour, commensurate with experience.
