    Job Duties

    The Virginia State Bar (VSB) has an immediate opening for an enthusiastic individual to provide administrative and logistical support for numerous professional and educational programs, projects, events, and meetings. As a critical part of the Bar Programs & Engagement team, the meetings assistant manages or assists with registration processes; the preparation and organization of program materials; communications to/from program participants; and the procurement of supplies, catering, and other departmental needs. In addition, this position serves as the primary staff liaison to several legal practice sections, supporting the administrative work of the section boards of governors and members. Duties include coordinating and attending board meetings, preparing materials, providing policy and budgetary guidance to section leadership; and assisting with the planning and execution of section-sponsored events, CLE programs, and publications. This position is in Richmond, Virginia and requires occasional evening and weekend work. Some statewide travel, approximately 3-4 times a year, is also required.

    Minimum Qualifications

    The successful candidate will have relevant event support experience, preferably in a nonprofit, association, or legal environment, and strong organizational skills, customer service skills, attention to detail, and written and verbal communication skills. In addition, the selected candidate will demonstrate the ability to effectively solve problems and use good judgment; work independently and as a team member; manage multiple projects and deadlines; and be proficient and comfortable with a wide range of computer programs and applications. Successful completion of a criminal background check is also required.
