Job Duties

Located in the central OCME office this position leads and coordinates all Overdose Fatality Review Team programming. A comprehensive knowledge of substance use disorder and violence, particularly mortality is required. Duties include: implementing, and overseeing comprehensive overdose fatality review team programs, aligned with evidence based mortality review and surveillance practices; maintain program protocols, guidelines, and standard operating procedures; foster and maintain strong partnerships with state-wide agencies, healthcare providers, community organizations, governmental agencies, and other stakeholders, support the facilitation of local and regional overdose fatality review teams with technical assistance and training; oversee data collection related to overdose fatalities, identifying trends, risk factors, and areas for intervention; utilize data-driven insights to develop recommendations for policy and programmatic improvements; establish and implement and evaluation framework to assess teams and program effectiveness; implement data quality.

This is a restricted position funded through the Opioid Abatement Authority until 2029. The funding is subject to annual review.

Minimum Qualifications

• Knowledge & experience in principles/practices that support assigned program.
• Ability to apply knowledge & skills in program evaluation, analysis & strategic planning.
• Skills & experience in leadership, interpersonal communications & public speaking.
• Knowledge of substance use disorder and violence including mortality and morbidity affecting mortality.
• Knowledge of database management principles and practices.
• Knowledge of statistical software such as SPSS.
• Knowledge of epidemiological fatality review and surveillance methodology.

Additional Considerations

• Background in health services research, public health, health policy, epidemiology, nursing, criminal justice, or related field.
• 1-2 years of progressive program management experience.
