Position Summary:

A postdoctoral position is available in Limbrick’s lab at the Virginia Commonwealth University, Richmond, VA, USA. The lab will focus on both basic and translational research areas. Projects include analysis of neuroinflammation in cerebrospinal fluid clinical samples, in vitro modulation of immune cells, and histological analysis of relevant developmental brain areas of different models. Highly motivated, hard-working, and technically skilled applicants with relevant experience are welcomed to apply.

Core Responsibilities:

Successful candidates are expected to work closely with Dr. Garcia-Bonilla, Assistant Professor from the same lab, to design and carry out experiments, analyze, organize, and present data in written form and to meetings, and to write papers and grants. Applicant must possess strong English and analytical skills. Salaries, stipend, and benefits are commensurate with university policy and NIH guidelines.

• Gene editing and viral gene delivery.
• Cell culture and cell-based functional assays.
• Immunohistochemistry and confocal image analysis.
• Animal handling and neurobehavioral test.
• Writing of manuscripts and grants as well as the mentoring of undergraduate and graduate in PI’s lab.

Essential Qualifications:

• PhD or MD/PhD in the field of biomedicine, molecular/cellular biology and neuroscience
• Experience in working with animals and cultures.
• Strong background in cell biology, biochemistry, molecular biology, immunology.
• Candidates are expected to be very motivated for career development, committed to driving federally funded high impact and high-quality research, and committed to pursuing postdoctoral grants.
• Ability to work independently.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience in viral packaging and gene therapy and animal handling.

Position is Open Until Filled

This will be a minimum one-year appointment, contingent upon satisfactory annual reviews. Salary is commensurate with NIH guidelines and applicant experience.

This is a restricted position; continued employment is dependent upon project need, availability of funding, and performance.
