The Office of Undergraduate Education at the University of Virginia's (UVA) College of Arts & Sciences seeks applications for a Program and Event Coordinator.

The Office of Undergraduate Education (OUE) serves as the hub for curricular and student success initiatives in the College of Arts & Sciences. The Echols Scholars Program, housed within the OUE, draws together a diverse community of students united by their potential for significant intellectual engagement at UVA and beyond. Echols Scholars have flexibility in their academic requirements, and they participate in unique communal programming to cultivate academic, social, and cultural development. The goals of this programming are 1) to build and support the community, 2) to stretch the scholars intellectually, 3) to expose scholars to a range of perspectives and worldviews, and 4) to help scholars achieve their career goals.

Reporting to the Assistant Dean and Director of Curricular Initiative and Student Success and working closely with the Director of the Echols Scholars Program, the OUE Program and Event Coordinator will play a pivotal role in cultivating and stewarding community in the Echols Scholars Program through the development and implementation of co-curricular student experiences. In addition, this position plays an essential role in event and program management for other curricular initiatives of the A&S undergraduate academic experience, including but not limited to experiential learning, student success, orientation, summer bridge programs, and honors programming. The Coordinator will support the work of the Curricular Initiatives and Student Success Unit, ensuring the highest standards of excellence and engagement.

Duties include:

Echols Programming Coordination (50%).
  • Collaborate with the Director of Echols Scholars Program to design, organize, and oversee impactful events for Echols Scholars.
  • Partner with various stakeholders across grounds to create and manage enriching student experiences and provide comprehensive logistical support.
  • Provide support to members of Echols Student Council, Student Outreach Interns, and the Alumni Engagement Committee as they plan events and services for the program.
  • Support Echols academic programming, specifically pre-major advising initiatives and the Interdisciplinary Major Program
  • Provide administrative support to the program, including communications/marketing, oversight of internal scholarship applications, and administration of the rising second-year admissions process.


Undergraduate Academic Experience Event Management (30%).
  • Strategically support OUE academic programs through meticulous event management.
  • Coordinate event details, including space, catering, and resources, ensuring seamless execution.
  • Work closely with A&S partners to coordinate logistics and serve as the primary on-location contact during large events.
  • Design and implement effective marketing materials and promotions for programs enhancing visibility and participation.


Administrative Support (20%).
  • Report directly to the Assistant Dean for Curricular Initiatives and Student Success, providing critical academic administrative support to the unit.
  • Create and maintain essential resources, assist with communication and marketing efforts, and manage scheduling and record-keeping.


Qualified candidates must have a bachelor's degree and at least four years of relevant experience. Experience facilitating programs and events, preferably at an institution of higher education, and familiarity with trends in undergraduate education is strongly preferred.

Physical Demands
  • Must be able to lift 25 lbs and have a drivers license
  • This role may occasionally require non-routine work hours beyond 8am-5pm to accommodate special events and activities. The candidate must be able and willing to participate in activities that take place outside of standard work hours.


This position is located in Charlottesville, VA.

The anticipated start date is June 2, 2025 . Anticipated Hiring Range: $53,000 - $58,000 commensurate with education and experience. This is an Exempt level, benefited position. For information on the benefits at UVA, visit hr.virginia.edu/benefits.
