The University of Virginia’s Department of Student Health and Wellness (SHW) seeks a highly motivated professional to join its dynamic team. The Program & Events Coordinator is responsible for the planning and execution of various student-centric programs as well as increasing awareness of SHW services and resources through various outreach and committee initiatives across the University. Program & Events Coordinators have significant experience delivering successful programs and events.
Job DescriptionThe Program & Events Coordinator reports to the Program Manager as a member of the Marketing and Communications team and alongside the Program Manager, is responsible for efficient, cost-effective program administration with the goal of providing extraordinary customer service to all parties. The Program & Events Coordinator works closely with the SHW Facilities teams to improve building utilization through the coordination of operational aspects for assigned events. This position also works collaboratively with all SHW services and units in the coordination of outreach requests and support of program design and implementation.
The Program & Events Coordinator maintains a close working relationship with student groups and other departments across the University through continual contact as duties also include promotion of our custom programming available at Student Health and Wellness. Some weekend, evening, and early morning onsite program support will be required.
The Program & Events Coordinator supports the Program Manager in the supervision of and administrative tasks for the front desk student staff-team of 20 students who are responsible for guiding guests as they enter the building, ensuring proper use of Student Health & Wellness, setting up for events, monitoring the building while upholding policies and procedures, and prioritizing the safety and well-being of patrons.
Responsibilities include:
- Plan and execute engaging programming, supporting students and their well-being. Including, but not limited to, 2026 Summer Orientation for rising first-year students.
- Ensure effective delivery on all operational aspects of assigned programs or other events in collaboration with student groups, faculty/staff, and departments across Grounds.
- Participate in key program activities to enhance communications, provide support, and address issues as they arise. This may include weekend, evening, and early morning hours depending on the program.
- Support Program Manager in supervision of and administrative tasks for the front desk student staff
- Help coordinate outreach initiatives and requests for the Department.
- Work with the Associate and Assistant Directors for Marketing and Communications on program specific communications.
- Coordinate with the Facility Manager on usage of 25Live for space reservations for assigned programs.
- Attend meetings for ongoing and prospective projects.
- Participate in the continual improvement of existing operational plans for program delivery and maintaining complete records on all programs, to ensure smooth execution of future program offerings and provides updates to scheduling of programs especially when changes are made.
- In addition to the above job responsibilities, other duties may be assigned.
Required Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor's degree or combination of education, experience, and or certifications in lieu of degree requirement.
- Experience: 3+ years of relevant experience.

Hybrid work is available at the discretion of the supervisor for team members with access to and the ability to maintain a secure home office environment with high-speed internet service, however, in-office presence is required for the majority of role responsibilities.
The anticipated hiring range for this position is commensurate with qualifications and experience. The selected candidate will pass a background check and drug screen.
