*This is a restricted position which is solely funded by a Federal Grant ending May 31, 2029. The availability of funding is scheduled for review annually thereafter. Employment is contingent on the continued availability of grant or non-general funds.
“The Virginia Department of Health (VDH) is dedicated to protecting and promoting the health of Virginians. The VDH is made up of a statewide Central Office in Richmond and 33 local health districts.
Independently performs technical office tasks in support of a single program area regularly requiring application of policy and procedures. Characteristic activities: Serves as contact and information resource for one or more programs, may perform eligibility determinations for all services available in health programs; serves as lead worker to direct, advise and train others; designs and directs workflow processes; researches and processes claims; collects data and prepares reports on program activities. May provide performance input regarding staff, to appropriate supervisor.

Minimum Qualifications
Knowledge of medical office procedures, computer and software technology, medical terminology, use of policies & procedures and customer service;
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, orally and written;
Strong organizational skills and experience with software applications and Microsoft Office products (i.e. WORD, EXCEL, and database entry) and general office equipment (copier, fax, calculator);
Ability and experience with setting up and maintaining files & manuals
Ability to maintain confidentiality.
Ability to follow and apply established procedures and applicable policies
Additional Considerations
Medical and/or business office work experience Coursework in Medical Terminology
