About the Position:


The Virginia State Police (VSP) is seeking to hire a Program Support Technician in our Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) Division at State Police Headquarters in North Chesterfield, Virginia. The job duties for this position include but are not limited to:

• Providing specialized technical and administrative support for overseeing, establishing, maintaining, and auditing non‑criminal justice fingerprint‑based, name‑based, and portal user accounts.
• Responding to inquiries from the public regarding new accounts, managing and updating (Non-Criminal Justice Interface) NCJI portal users, and assisting with billing‑related questions.
• Supporting audit activities and serving as a liaison with other departments and troubleshooting account issues and user errors within the NCJI portal to ensure accurate and efficient operations.

Minimum Qualifications

Knowledge:

• General knowledge of office practices and procedures.
• General knowledge of standard English grammar, punctuation, spelling and usage in written communications.

Skills:

• Skill in the use of personal computers and automated office equipment.
• Skill in Microsoft Office applications.
• Skill in data entry.
• Skill in keyboarding.

Abilities:

• Demonstrated ability to exercise independent judgement and apply prescribed policies and procedures.
• Demonstrated ability to work efficiently across various systems and applications concurrently.
• Demonstrated ability to interpret and apply Virginia statues in creating accounts.
• Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot and resolve customer account issues.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently, to follow instructions and pay close attention to details.
• Demonstrated ability to enter and validate data and information.
• Demonstrated ability to provide excellent customer service.
• Demonstrated ability to coordinate work assignments with other team members.
• Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively in English orally and in writing.
• Demonstrated ability to interact professionally with internal and external personnel.
• Experience providing administrative, technical, or customer service support in an office environment.
• Graduation from high school or equivalent.
