About the Agency:

The Virginia Department of Military Affairs State Team provides professional and responsive state support functions to the Adjutant General of Virginia, the Virginia National Guard, the Virginia Air Guard, and the Virginia Defense Force in order to ensure their ability to support and defend the United States and the Commonwealth of Virginia.

Purpose of Position:

Manage all aspects of assigned projects. Administer selection of Architecture/Engineering (A/E) services, and administer A/E and major construction contracts. Prepare contract documents. Prepare detailed design and constructions cost estimates, and project schedules. Manage multi-projects, supervise project inspectors, administer change orders and complete project closeout. Verify accuracy of and authorize payment of A/E and construction pay requests. Continually update Architectural Consultant on project status.

Minimum Qualifications

Extensive on site Project Manager experience;

Knowledge and use of the Commonwealth of Virginia, Construction and Professional Services Manual;

Knowledge of cost estimating, site planning, architectural design;

Ability to read and interpret working drawings and specifications;

Knowledge and experience in construction materials, methods, standard practices and procedures;

Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing with design professionals, contractors, fiscal technicians, project inspectors, peers and superiors;

Valid Driver’s License in order to operate state owned vehicle in accordance with current policy.

Additional Considerations

Virginia Construction Contracting Officer (VCCO) certification preferred.

Must obtain Virginia Construction Contracting Officer (VCCO) certification within 24 months of hire;
