Position Overview:

The Alcoholic Liver Disease Research Group at VCU, led by Dr. Juan Pablo Arab, is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Research Program Manager to join our dynamic team. This position will be responsible for leading, coordinating, and overseeing the research program focused on Alcoholic Liver Disease (ALD). This includes executing research strategies, and ensuring the successful advancement of all studies. The role will involve liaising with academic researchers, healthcare professionals, industry partners, and regulatory bodies to foster collaboration and drive impactful discoveries aimed at improving patient outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:

- Program Strategy:
Responsible for the management and execution of all Alcoholic Liver Disease research program studies.
Collaborate with PI’s and senior leadership to develop and refine program goals, objectives, and key performance indicators.
- Project Management:
Develop and maintain project plans, timelines, and deliverables for grant funded research initiative
Manage the day-to-day operations of all projects
Monitor project progress and provide regular updates to PI’s and senior leadership.
Oversee the timelines and submission deadlines of research proposals, grants, and publications.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration:
Work closely with clinical, preclinical, regulatory, and data management teams to ensure integrated and efficient research efforts.
Manage partnerships and collaborations with key external partners.
- Budget and Resource Management:
Oversee the financial aspects of research projects, ensuring that they remain within budget and are cost-effective.
Identify resource needs and work with internal teams to ensure appropriate allocation of personnel and funding.

--Demonstrated experience working in and fostering an environment of respect, professionalism and civility with a population of faculty, staff, and students from various backgrounds and experiences, or a commitment to do so as a staff member at VCU

Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., medicine, biology, biochemistry, public health, or related disciplines).
• 5-7 years of experience in clinical research, preferably in hepatology, metabolic diseases, or related areas.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Highly organized with attention to detail and the ability to work both independently and in a collaborative environment.
