UVa Housing & Residence Life (HRL) is seeking a Residence Life Coordinator (RLC) for a student facing role within Residence Life. The Residence Life Coordinator will lead, guide, and coach Senior Residents (SRs) who will in turn support our Resident Advisor (RAs). The RLC position is directly supervised by an Assistant Dean.

With close to three million square feet of residential building space, Housing & Residence Life strives to create robust and vibrant residential communities. Specific living and learning programs include language immersion houses, three residential colleges, a comprehensive residential experience. Residential environments comprise a diverse range of architectural styles, including traditional residence halls, suite-style accommodations, and apartment complexes.

Residence Life Coordinator Duties & Responsibilities:

In collaboration with the Assistant Dean, Coordinators will work towards developing, growing, and supporting the residential experience.

o Administrative support of programmatic initiatives within assigned residential communities, including program development guidance, purchasing, and budget management.

o Programmatic responsibility for cultivating a strong sense of community within assigned residential areas by mentoring student leaders and supporting student self-governance by providing training, resources, and leadership to enhance student engagement, foster connection, and promote a positive living experience.

o Supervise 4 - 6 undergraduate Senior Residents and/or graduate Community Assistants directly; indirectly supervise 35-65 Resident Advisors (RAs).

o Meet with residential students to provide resources and support by assisting in problem solving, roommate mediations, challenges, or concerns.

o Participate in an on-call rotation.

Qualifications

Required :

o Bachelor's degree and two years of experience required

o Demonstrated interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively and interact effectively with students, faculty, staff, and team members

o Strong attention to detail and organizational skills

o Demonstrated leadership and effectiveness in building community, managing crisis, resolving conflicts, and promoting engagement.

Preferred :

o Master's degree or equivalent in Counseling, Higher Education, Student Affairs Administration, or other related field

o Two years of relevant experience in residence life, counseling, teaching, and living/learning environments

o Supervisory experience

o Experience managing a budget or reconciling financial accounts

o Experience being on-call within a housing & residence life setting.

About the Position

The selected applicant will pass a background check. This position will not sponsor applications for immigration. This is primarily a sedentary job involving extensive use of desktop computers. The job does occasionally require traveling some distance to attend meetings, and programs. This is an in-person, live-off position, located in Charlottesville, Virginia. The Housing & Residence Life office business hours are Mon-Fri: 8am-5pm. To support program needs, evening and weekend work may be required on occasions.

Temporary housing may be available to the successful candidate to help navigate a potential relocation to the area.

The anticipated start date is December 1, 2025 and the hiring range is $45,000.00-55,000.00/annually commensurate with qualifications and experience. This is an exempt-level position with UVa benefits . Employees’ benefits package highlights include:
