Job Duties

To provide a safe environment for patients, staff, and visitors at ESH by handling difficult individuals (i.e. physically control, confine and restrain) during difficult situations. Maintain adequate coverage in order for the Public Safety Department to fulfill its mission statement at Eastern State Hospital. Each officer is sworn by the Court of Williamsburg/James City County and is fully empowered to make an arrest for any State and Local violation.

Minimum Qualifications

Valid Driver’s License w/ good driving record.
Experience in preparing reports and investigation techniques.
Experience conducting foot and/or vehicle patrol.
Experience in Law Enforcement, Security, or related fields and positions meeting and dealing with the general public as a supplier for security services.

Additional Considerations

Certification as a Special Conservator of the Peace.
Experience utilizing various computer software.
