The Department of Medical Assistance Services (DMAS) is excited to offer a competitive opportunity to serve as a Senior Data Researcher. The selected competitive candidate will provide exceptional delivery of services to the agency’s Incentive Coordination and Economic Research (ICER) Division.
This individual is responsible for producing high-quality quantitative analysis and develop data-driven recommendations for policies and programs to improve outcomes for Medicaid members, while promoting effective and efficient provision of care.
This position requires the candidate to possess and maintain subject matter expertise in health care data analysis and payment policies.
This individual is required to assess the feasibility of conducting analyses, navigate complexities within available data, and propose solutions that address or mitigate limitations in underlying data.
Areas of focus will include, but are not limited to, the evaluation of data integrity, spending and utilization, quality of care, population health outcomes, and performance trends.
Successful execution of these tasks will require extensive communication with a wide range of staff throughout the agency.

Minimum Qualifications
Competitive candidates will meet these minimum qualifications:
Considerable experience analyzing health payer data to address questions of utilization, costs and/or quality.
Considerable experience with statistical and programming software (e.g., SQL, SAS, R, python) to analyze large data sets.
Considerable experience using data to inform project operations (e.g., determining payment amounts to be disbursed).
Experience independently developing and executing analysis plans to explore and provide policy recommendations on strategic policy issues.
Experience using Excel or other accounting or statistical software to communicate data and analytical results to diverse audiences.
Experience in the interpretation and application of federal and state laws/regulations.
Experience in meeting deadlines.
Experience with internal/external stakeholders.

Experience with Tableau programming.
