Job Duties

The Virginia Retirement System (VRS) is seeking an experienced Senior Operations Analyst to join the Investment Operations team. This position will provide trade support for the investments of the pension trust fund to ensure that transactions are recorded completely and accurately.

- Record, analyze, and reconcile investment transactions and balances, to ensure the accuracy of the internally managed assets held in the VRS Investment portfolio
- Oversee trade operations functions such as confirmations, settlements, and performance tracking
- Provide operational support for treasury related activities such as liquidity strategies, cash management, etc.
- Provide operational support for activities related to public assets, including equities, fixed income, and derivatives
- Communicate with internal and external service providers, and stakeholders as necessary
- Solve technical issues while implementing new processes/procedures

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, accounting, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
• Five or more years' experience in an investment operations, accounting, or related environment
• Strong analytical skills, with a process mindset and interest in solving complex problems
• Ability to work well across various investment and investment support groups
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Superb work ethic, attention to detail, and commitment to excellence
• Requires an aptitude for finance, accounting and investment analysis
• Ability to work independently, prioritize items and meet deadlines
• High level proficiency with Microsoft Office products, particularly Excel
