Summary:
VCU’s School of Education (SOE) seeks a Licensed Lead Teacher who embraces diversity, equity and inclusion and will contribute to a climate that supports students, faculty, and staff of all identities and backgrounds. The Licensed Lead teacher (working with ages 16 months - 36 months) is responsible for providing support and feedback to classroom teachers. This coaching role is expected to be in the classroom throughout the entire day; additionally, this role will designate times of the day when they are available to model, supervise, observe, or confer with teachers. Other parts of the coach’s day will be spent attending to clerical tasks and oversight (outlined below) that are required for the classrooms to operate effectively with high quality instruction delivered by the classroom teachers.

- Provide detailed schedule of planned activities both in and out of the classroom for teacher and administrator communication
- Visit assigned classrooms regularly to coach and provide feedback to teachers to support high quality teaching practices
- Monitors classroom teachers through informal observation and reflection on best practices used for: lesson instruction, behavior management, classroom environment, and curriculum development.
- Maintain objective based weekly lesson plans and prepare materials necessary for classroom teachers to carry out activities and lessons
- Maintain NAEYC standards within classroom portfolios and provide evidence for necessary standards into portfolios regularly.
- Maintains MyTeachingStrategies Gold assessment standards for designated classrooms through informal and formal assessment of student progress
- Analyzes and enters documentation regularly into MyTeachingStrategies Gold assessment platform into Checkpoint periods
- Stays current with latest early childhood research and developmentally appropriate practices for designated age group
- Offers facilitation of developmentally appropriate classroom practices with the intention of showcasing then handing off best practices to classroom teachers for their on quality enhancement
- Provide individual follow up support with teachers after observing lessons
- Provide necessary behavior modification and support in-classroom when necessary and follow up conversation with classroom teacher
- Work closely with teachers to promote short and long term goals of children’s independent skills to best prepare them for future classroom enrollment.
- Confer regularly with administrators to update on classroom student progress and classroom teacher needs to help design necessary professional growth tasks for teacher continued professional learning, culturally competency, and positive learning environment.
- Model professionalism, engages in self-reflection, self-led continuous improvement, seeks out feedback from administrators and classroom teachers, and performs duties constructively.

Required Qualifications :

- Current professional VA Teaching License in (Early Childhood)
- At least 2 years experience as a classroom lead teacher
- Experience with children ages 12 months - 5 years old
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills among colleagues and parents

Preferred Qualifications:

- Background in Special Education, Early Childhood Development, Curriculum Development
- Experience in meeting VDOE child day center licensing standards
- Instructional coaching or mentorship experience Required

- CPR/First aid certification

Salary Range: $50,000 - $58,000
