Job Duties

Virginia Department of Transportation’s (VDOT) is excited to offer and announce a competitive opportunity to serve as a part-time Senior Traffic Program Specialist in our Central Office Traffic Operations Division. The selected individual will conduct analysis and provide support to assigned operational program area. Some duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to performing policy research, development, analysis, and interpretation on behalf of the Traffic Engineer. Monitoring and assessing the impact of the proposed legislation and developing impact statements on behalf of the department. Performing additional duties, tasks, activities, and projects as assigned by management.

**We will be filling multiple positions from this one recruitment**

This position is an Hourly/Wage position. Hourly(wage) positions may not work more than an average of 29 hours per week and cannot exceed 1500 hours during the wage employment year (May1-April 30). This position does not include health insurance, retirement or leave benefits.

Minimum Qualifications

• Knowledge of federal, state, and local transportation rules regulations and policies.

• Ability to interpret and apply policies and procedures related to traffic engineering.

• Skill in evaluating, investigating, gathering, and analyzing data for business support and quality decisions by management.

• Skill in organization and time management.

Additional Considerations

• A combination of training, experience, or education in Civil Engineering or related field desired.
