Job Description:
General Description:
The Skilled Trades Support Specialist will assist with the development and expansion of skilled trade programs. This role will also engage business and industry partners, collaborate with college departments to identify and promote relevant programs to meet the region's demand for skilled trades workers.

Duties and Tasks:
  • Assist and support the Associate Director of Skilled Trades and Transportation.
  • Coordinate the day-to-day tasks associated with courses.
  • Place and track orders for instructional materials, resources and supplies.
  • Assist the Associate Director in classroom inventory management.
  • Uses and maintains proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, Canvas course management system
  • Provides assistance and guidance to the public, students, faculty and other members of the college community in skilled trade and transportation operations courses and scheduling.
  • Resolves or redirects student issues as appropriate.
  • Timely service to students and the NOVA community is essential for advancing NOVA Workforce.

*This position is restricted and is funded with non-continuous or non-recurring funding and is subject to continuation based on fiscal year funds and the needs of the College.

Minimum Work Experience:
  • Experience in an office setting with office procedures, managing files, schedules and paperwork.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Word and Excel.
  • Customer service and forward-facing experience.
  • Administrative office experience

  • Previous experience in an educational or training setting
  • Experience in Skilled Trades and Transportation programs.
  • Experience managing projects
  • Experience working with under-served and underrepresented populations.
