Piedmont Virginia Community College (PVCC) is a nonresidential two-year institution of higher education that serves Central Virginia – principally residents of the City of Charlottesville and the counties of Albemarle, Buckingham, Fluvanna, Greene, Louisa and Nelson. Our scenic campus is located in Albemarle County, Virginia. We are one of 23 community colleges in Virginia that comprise the Virginia Community College System (VCCS).

Piedmont Virginia Community College seeks an energetic and creative Manager of the Student Resource Center (SRC). The focus of the SRC is to expand students’ access to public, community, and college benefits that help them stay in and complete college programs. The Manager will oversee and direct all activities and functions of the center including service delivery, program evaluation, and data collection. The Manager will connect students to resources through leveraging existing resources at the College and in the community along with providing education, counseling, and support. The Manager will ensure that students are connected to comprehensive services leading to financial stability and student success.
The SRC Manager will serve as the functional leader of the Center, overseeing the strategic direction and supervising three full-time resource specialists and one part-time SNAP Coach. The Manager will design and implement programs that connect PVCC students to support and resources as well as advocating for those needing non-academic assistance. The Manager will work with other College staff to identify and secure grants and other non-academic resources critical to student retention and completion. The position includes the development and implementation of outreach activities to bring awareness of the Center and its programs to students, faculty, and staff.
The Manager of the Student Resource Center reports directly to the Dean of Community Self-Sufficiency Programs and works as a key member of the Student Affairs and Network2Work teams to promote retention, completion, and subsequent employment.

Duties include:
  • Provides leadership and programmatic oversight for functions related to the Student Resource Center and oversees day-to-day operations of the Center, including the Panther food Pantry and Clothing Closet.
  • Coordinates intake and assessment for students and facilitates referrals to partnering service providers using tools such as the Network2Work tool and Single Stop.
  • Provides benefits counseling and case management services to credit and non-credit students needing non-academic resources, including students in the college’s Great Expectations Program.
  • Coordinates programs and services with Financial Aid, Admissions and Advising, Student Success, Academic Support Services, and other Student Affairs departments.
  • Responsible for marketing and promoting Center offerings to current and prospective students.
  • Manages the budget for the SRC and submits yearly budget requests.
  • Establishes procedures, guidelines, and compliance requirements for programming offered by the Center.
  • Manages the college’s work with the state-wide SNAP 50/50 funding program, including helping to enroll eligible students to receive SNAP benefits.
  • Designs, organizes, and conducts workshops and training relevant to financial resources and stability.
  • Works collaboratively with faculty and staff to promote referrals of students.
  • Builds, maintains, and expands strong relationships with internal and external partners and community organizations.
  • Trains internal and external partners on PVCC’s award-winning student assessment-and-support technology platform.
  • Makes presentations to community groups to promote the Center and its programming.
  • Works collaboratively in a diverse, inclusive, and student-centered environment and with students of various learning styles, cultures, identities, and life experiences.
  • Serves on key committees at the college.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Working knowledge of financial aid services and trends in higher education.
  • Excellent written and verbal skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with non-traditional and diverse populations.
  • Ability to present to a variety of community groups as well as college departments in either informal or formal settings.
Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working with non-profit and community partners.
  • Experience working with low-income individuals and families.
  • Ability to explain complex information in clear and understandable terminology.
  • Strong collaboration skills.
