Job Duties

This position is with P&P Harrisonburg District #39 and will be located in the Page Count Sub-Office. Surveillance Officers assist Probation Officers in the supervision, surveillance, and investigation of an assigned caseload of adult probationers assigned to Drug Court Program. Investigate and verify information on alleged violations. Assist in monitoring supervisees and assist in preparing reports and maintaining required documentation.

This is a wage position limited to working no more than 1,500 hours per agency during the 12 month period of May 1 – April 30, regardless of the hire date. The wage employment period resets on May 1 of the following year. All wage employees are limited to working no more than 29 hours per week on average over the 12-month period. This wage position offers no state benefits.

Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent. Experience collecting pertinent information from a variety of sources, maintain logs, and document discussions with inmates, or probationers in a human services setting. Basic knowledge of computers and computer software i.e., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook. Ability to work effectively in a team-based environment using both verbal and written communication skills.

Additional Considerations

Experience working with case management computer applications. Demonstrated experience making referrals to community resources. Working knowledge of electronic, voice monitoring systems &/or anytrax.
