Temporary Specialized Professional Pool

UVA Temps is an in-house agency that recruits a labor force of diverse, qualified candidates and places them in a range of temporary positions across the University.

Temporary Specialized Professional assignments can vary in length lasting from a few days to an indefinite time period. The needs of our business partners vary, and employees of diverse skills are needed for part-time or full-time assignments. Below are some of the positions which UVA Temporary Specialized Professional employees assume:

• Human Resources
• Graphic Designer
• Grants and Contracts Writer
• Technical Trainer and Instructor
• Architect
• Engineer
• Public Relations & Marketing Specialist
• Speech Pathologist
• Staff Psychologist
• Special Collections Assistant/Curator

Experience, education, and physical requirements will vary based on the specifics of the temporary role to be filled.

Minimum Qualifications Required

Education: High school diploma or equivalent education, training, and experience

Skills & Abilities:

• Advanced knowledge of principles and practices in designated professional field
• Demonstrated professional level of customer service and interpersonal communication skills
• Intermediate level knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, and Outlook; ability to train on and learn new computerized systems
• Keen attention to detail, problem solving skills, and ability to maintain confidentiality while managing competing priorities
• Ability to communicate and work alongside faculty, staff, students, patients, vendors, and outside guests of the University in an effective and professional manner.

Preferred

Education: Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent education, training and experience, Certification, Professional Licensure

Skills & Abilities:

• One year or more work experience in designated professional field; preferably in an academic environment
• Experience with University of Virginia policies, procedures, and internal operating systems such as Oracle, SIS, Discoverer, Salesforce, and Advance
