Job Duties

The Virginia Department of Juvenile Justice (DJJ) protects the public by preparing court-involved youth to be successful citizens. DJJ is committed to excellence in public safety by providing effective interventions that improve the lives of youth, strengthening both families and communities within the Commonwealth.

DJJ is currently seeking a VJCCCA Program Coordinator. This role coordinates activities associated with the Virginia Juvenile Community Crime Control Act (VJCCCA) programing and funding by providing program monitoring, technical assistance, quality assurance and implementation support to assigned localities that is consistent with the agency’s practice model. Provides technical assistance associated with the Community Programs Reporting (CPR) Module of the Balanced Approach Data Gathering Environment (BADGE).

Minimum Qualifications

  • Considerable knowledge of evidence-based programs and services in the juvenile justice field.
  • Considerable knowledge of methods of training, coaching, and technical assistance, program evaluation, and program monitoring processes
  • Demonstrate the skill and ability to analyze and solve problems, including gathering information, anticipation of problems, review of the accuracy/validity of information, interpreting data, drawing conclusions, weighing of impact of decision-making, facilitation of implementation of recommendations/solutions, and ability to translate into practice.
  • Demonstrate the ability to clearly present information in written and oral formats; simultaneously and effectively manage multiple tasks and projects; and work independently and within a team.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft and other computer software including spreadsheets, word processing, databases, and presentation packages.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with local key stakeholders and staff from various levels of agency operations.

Additional Considerations

  • Considerable experience and/or training in social work, criminal justice, psychology, sociology or equivalent/related experience.
  • Experience as a project leader.
