General Information:
The Facilities Management Engineering & Construction Department at James Madison University is seeking applicants for a part-time Engineering Technician. This position will work approximately 20-25 hours per week. The successful candidate will assist with a variety of geospatial and stormwater related duties including updating CAD and GIS based building floor plans and campus maps.
Duties and Responsibilities:
This position will also provide support to the University’s stormwater management, erosion and sediment control, and other environmental and sustainability programs by performing construction inspections for the University’s Virginia Erosion and Stormwater Management Program (VESMP) compliance; performing required inspections on stormwater best management practices and storm system outfalls; and provide support for the University’s Municipal Separate Storm Sewer System (MS4) Program. Other duties may be assigned as they relate to Facilities efforts to maintain and expand the geospatial, stormwater and sustainability related programs.
Qualifications:
Required Qualifications:
•High degree of fluency with AutoCAD drafting software
•Experience working with enterprise Geographic Information Systems including ESRI ArcGIS
•Must be able to obtain DEQ Certification as an Erosion and Sediment Control Inspector and Stormwater Management Inspector within 12 months of employment.
•Attention to detail, organization and ability to manage multiple priorities
•Excellent communication and teamwork skills; ability to effectively communicate information in a clear manner, both in writing and verbally
•Must have a valid VA Driver’s License
