Norfolk State University invites applications for the position of Administrative Associate for the TRIO Office and the Classic Upward Bound Program (CUB). The Administrative Associate will provide analysis and support for TRIO and CUB which involves interfacing with many NSU departments/offices, (Budget, Procurement, Grants, Provost, Housing, Admissions, Catering, etc.). Reporting directly to the Executive Director of TRIO and the Classic Upward Bound Coordinator, the Administrative Associate will
Assist with administering the daily operations of the TRIO Office and the Classic Upward Bound program in accordance with federal regulations and the goals and objectives of the program.
Assist with budget preparation and management.
Assist with recruitment and selection process.
Assist with the supervision of daily office project activities and staff.
Assist with approving new students for the program and ensuring compliance with all U.S. Department of Education applicable state and federal laws and university policies and procedures.
Assist in establishing baselines, benchmarks and targets; maintain an efficient database to document achievement of measurable objectives; and recommend improvements to achieve the goals, objectives and performance metrics of TRIO and the Classic Upward Bound Program.
Assist with the tracking of student’s academic progress and accurately complete and submit the Annual Performance Report to the U.S. Department of Education for continued funding of the program.
Perform all other duties as assigned by supervisor. • This is a grant-funded position. Continuation of the position is contingent upon the continuation of related grant-funding.

Minimum Qualifications
Considerable knowledge of office practices and procedures.
Considerable knowledge of U. S. Department of Education federal and state guidelines and university policies and procedures.
Skilled in the use of computerized applications for word processing, spreadsheets and databases.
Demonstrated ability to prepare and monitor budgets.
Demonstrated ability to work in a self-directed environment and to plan and organize on both a daily and long-term basis.
Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing and convey matters to large diverse audiences (students/faculty/staff).
Ability to perform multiple responsibilities simultaneously.
Considerable administrative experience directly supporting senior level members of an organization
H.S. Diploma/GED or the equivalent combination of education and training that provides the requisite knowledge, skills and abilities.
Additional Considerations
Considerable administrative experience in a higher education environment.
Bachelor’s Degree or the equivalent combination of education and training that provides the requisite knowledge, skill and abilities.
