Mission or Goal of Unit: The mission of the Department of Radiology is to create a world-class department by providing optimal care in a patient-centered environment, providing sub-specialty expertise, providing top quality imaging and therapeutic procedures, and to advance medical education and research, with a vision to create a department that is recognized as top tier nationally and internationally.

Chief purpose: The department seeks a candidate to provide a wide array of arterial, venous, genitourinary, hepatobiliary and other services to a sophisticated referral base in an 865 bed, Level 1 Trauma Center. Responsibilities also include expansion of current services and continued multidisciplinary collaboration. The IR physicians see and treat patients both on the downtown campus as well as a state-of-the-art outpatient multidisciplinary vascular center. This full-time Vascular and Interventional Radiology position will train residents in the large, highly productive academic radiology department.


Responsibilities:


Teaching - Provide training to medical students, residents and fellows, who rotate through the Department of Radiology.

Research - Continue to promote professional relationships with Vascular Surgery and the Department of Transplant Surgery to foster interdisciplinary research.

Service
- Time and effort is expected to be devoted to academic service-related activities. This shall include college, school and departmental committee work, professional growth, and other such assignments.

Clinical - Provide high quality, sub-specialized imaging interpretations and clinical care as well as perform high quality, state of the art image-guided procedures in support of the referring physicians and patients of the VCUHS.

Required qualifications:

  • Applicants should have ABR certification or documentation of passing the Core Component of the ABR Board examination
  • Fellowship trained in Vascular and Interventional Radiology
  • Candidates must have a current license to practice medicine in Virginia or the ability to qualify for licensure
  • Be eligible for permanent employment in the USA
  • Demonstrated experience working in and fostering an environment of respect, professionalism and civility with a population of faculty, staff, and students from various backgrounds and experiences, or a commitment to do so as a faculty member at VCU
