SVCC is currently seeking applicants for a 9-month teaching faculty member for the Practical Nursing program located in Alberta, VA. The successful candidate must be committed to our mission to provide quality education to a diverse constituency. SVCC’s Practical Nursing Program serves over 50 students in two locations, South Boston and Alberta. There are two full-time nursing faculty along with approximately five adjunct nursing faculty. We offer a SimLab for our students and work very closely with local hospitals. Duties include teaching 15 credit hours (day, evening, and/or weekends) per semester at locations served by the college, as well as student advising. Classes taught may be a combination of day, night and/or weekends and may be located on or off campus. • Mentoring adjunct instructors

• Assisting in documentation necessary to meet Virginia Board of Nursing Requirements
• Teach students in the Practical Nursing Program

• Meeting all clinical partner requirements is an essential function of the job.
• Bachelor's degree in nursing
• Minimum of two years clinical experience in Medical Surgical area
• Must hold a current unencumbered Virginia nursing license (or ability to obtain a Virginia License prior to employment)
• Must possess the ability to work effectively with a culturally and educationally diverse student population
• Competency in and dedication to the use of instructional technologies is required
• Candidates should possess sufficient technology skills to work productively in an organization that utilizes significant information and instructional technology resources
• Demonstrated teaching skills
• Excellent communications skills
• An understanding of the community college environment and mission
