Job Description:

Thank you for considering employment with Southside Virginia Community College (SVCC). We are committed to attracting and retaining a workforce that contributes to our continued recognition as a Great College to Work For by the Chronicle of Higher Education—an honor we have received for 12 years, including placement on the Honor Roll for seven of those years. Dedicated to academic excellence, SVCC offers a wide range of occupational, technical, and university-transfer programs designed to meet the diverse needs of our students. We are committed to providing a world-class education within a supportive, caring, and student-centered environment, and we strive to ensure equal educational opportunity for all.

Founded in 1970, SVCC is one of 23 institutions within the Virginia Community College System. We are a comprehensive, public, two-year college serving approximately 183,000 residents across the counties of Brunswick, Charlotte, Cumberland, Greensville, Lunenburg, Mecklenburg, Nottoway, Prince Edward, and parts of Buckingham and Halifax, as well as the city of Emporia. Our service region—the largest in the state—covers roughly 4,200 square miles. The college maintains an Extension Campus in Keysville, VA, along with five Educational Centers distributed throughout the region. SVCC is accredited by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools to award associate degrees.

SVCC is located in a scenic rural setting characterized by rolling hills, pine and hardwood forests, and expansive farmland. The area offers convenient access to several nearby metropolitan centers, including Richmond, Virginia—the state capital—as well as Raleigh, North Carolina, and Lynchburg, Virginia. Known for its natural beauty, the region features two renowned lakes, Lake Gaston and Kerr Lake, along with numerous state and national parks that provide ample opportunities for recreation, such as fishing, boating, water skiing, jet skiing, hiking, horseback riding, picnicking, and relaxation. In addition to outdoor activities, the area supports a variety of sports, including baseball, softball, and soccer, as well as several beautiful golf courses. Cultural offerings abound, with local theaters and arts councils presenting concerts, plays, and live entertainment. The community also hosts a wide range of festivals throughout the year.

Do you want to shape our future heroes? If so, bring your passion for nursing and education to Southside Virginia Community College in a role where you’ll inspire and guide Practical Nursing students to become confident, capable caregivers.
