Art History Adjunct

Mountain Empire Community College is a comprehensive two-year college serving residents of Lee, Scott, Wise, and Dickenson counties, and the City of Norton. MECC is one of twenty-three colleges in the Virginia Community College System and operates under policies established by the State Board for Community Colleges and the Local Advisory Board. The College is financed primarily with state funds, supplemented by contributions from the local jurisdictions.

Mountain Empire Community College, located in Big Stone Gap, Virginia, invites applications for adjunct instructors to teach Art History in the Arts and Sciences Division. Salary is based on the academic preparation (education) and work experience of the applicant and is determined according to the VCCS Adjunct Pay Schedule.

Part-time, adjunct Instructors are contracted on a course-by-course basis based on their individual availability. Teaching experience is helpful, but not required. Professional experience, educational endeavors, and appropriate certification, if required, are critical. Our students expect to learn from seasoned professionals who can share their knowledge and relevant experience in the field.

Adjunct faculty members are responsible for effectively planning and teaching courses in a classroom, clinical site, or online environment to students with a variety of academic backgrounds and experiences.
