Job Description:
The School of Teacher Education and Leadership at Radford University invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position in literacy education with a focus on diverse and multilingual learners to begin August 2025. Primary teaching responsibilities serve the MS in Literacy Education and undergraduate teacher preparation programs. The position is for a tenure-track, 9-month faculty appointment in the School of Teacher Education and Leadership with the opportunity for supplemental summer teaching. Local residency is required. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching online, asynchronous graduate courses and campus-based undergraduate courses; have an active program of literacy-related scholarship; and provide service to the School, College, University.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Doctoral degree from an accredited university in literacy education or related field by the contract start date
  • K-12 teaching experience
  • Experience teaching in higher education
  • Have expertise in meeting the language and literacy needs of diverse and multilingual learners
  • Demonstrate commitment to fostering a community of inclusiveness through culturally relevant professional practice.

Additional Considerations:

Expertise in one or more of the following areas is preferred:

  • Reading Specialist and/or Literacy Coaching
  • Literacy intervention and assessment
  • Literacy instruction for 6-12 learners
  • Facilitating school-university partnerships, including supervising teacher and/or reading specialist candidates
  • Course design and program development
  • Designing and implementing professional learning in K-12 schools
