Job Duties

The Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Services’ (DBHDS) Division of Facility Services is seeking an experienced individual to join the Active Treatment Team as one of the Clinical Care Specialist. This position will be responsible for enhancing timely patient flow through DBHDS facilities. This position will also focus on maintaining high-quality patient care by analyzing and reporting data, supporting the utilization review process, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, and contributing to the agency's goal of maximizing patient outcomes.

Minimum Qualifications

• Knowledge of human behavior/development, medical terminology, psychiatric treatment protocols, healthcare guidelines, and admissions/discharge processes.
• Knowledge of treatment planning and contemporary resources available to individuals with SMI, ID and/or SUD.
• Knowledge of and experience working with federal, state, and local regulations and accreditation requirements governing utilization review, including Medicare, Medicaid, and other revenue collection areas such as insurance rules/regulations.
• Familiarity with DSM-5-TR and its connection to ICD-10-CM codes.
• Knowledge of trends in technology, including EHR, and the ability to apply technology to problem-solving and achieve efficiencies through automation.
• Knowledge of modern business practices such as strategic planning, business planning, budgeting, and customer relations.
• Knowledge of the business lines managed by the Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Services, including its structure, functions, and processes.
• Knowledge of complex medical information and ability to explain it to patients and providers.
• Knowledge of processes for auditing medical records and identifying areas for improvement.
• Knowledge of how to conduct complete and thorough analyses, determine the impact of actions or plan, make effective recommendations, and present them to senior leaders in order to resolve complex issues and support agency plans and decisions.
• Ability to work as part of a team to meet the agency's mission and objectives, including working effectively with agency management, employees, state agencies, auditors, and other individuals.
• Ability to manage and motivate people both as individuals and in teams.
• Ability to cope with critical deadlines, multiple assignments, changing priorities, maximize performance and productivity, and ensure timeliness and quality of completed assignments.

Additional Considerations

• Experience working in a behavioral health setting.
• Experience in nursing, social work, psychology, healthcare administration, or other related fields.
• Experience in utilization review/management or other relevant programs.
• Experience following healthcare regulations.
• Experience in a professional work environment, with proven ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing, and to collaborate successfully with others.
