The Department of Medical Assistance Services (DMAS) is excited to offer a competitive opportunity to serve as a Compliance Pharmacist. The selected competitive candidate will provide exceptional delivery of services to the agency’s Office of the Chief Medical Officer.

Job responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

This role requires an active or eligible, Virginia Pharmacy license.

This position will provide specialized Medicaid pharmacy expertise to the Department of Medical Assistance Services (DMAS), ensuring compliance with federal and state regulations, policies, and guidelines.

Responsibilities include the management of the Common Core Formulary for Cardinal Care managed care health plans, with a focus on monitoring Managed Care Organization (MCO) compliance of contractual obligations, 340B program requirements, and Medicaid Drug Rebate Program participation.

The position necessitates building and maintaining strong collaborative relationships with MCO leadership and interdisciplinary teams supporting Virginia Medicaid, while also serving as the pharmacist Subject Matter Expert (SME) for DMAS departments on various initiatives.

This role also extends expertise to state and federal organizations partnering with DMAS on community health programs.

Minimum Qualifications

Competitive candidates will meet these minimum qualifications:

Experience in managed care or managed care pharmacy practice.

Experience in navigating and applying compliance principles and practices.

Experience in working with a pharmacy benefits manager and formulary development.

Knowledge of healthcare and Medicaid programs.

Experience in Microsoft Suites.

Knowledge of pharmacy and medical claim billing policies and procedures.

Knowledge of state/federal pharmacy policies and how they apply to pharmacy practice.

Experience in meeting deadlines and managing multiple projects concurrently.

Experience with leveraging relationships with internal/external stakeholders.

Active or eligible, Virginia Pharmacy license.
