Job Duties

The Virginia Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) is seeking a Convictions and Suspensions Process (CSP) Manager to direct the Conviction and Suspension Processing work center, ensuring the accurate and timely posting of convictions, suspensions, and revocations to customer records. The manager supervises and evaluates staff performance, resolves escalated issues, ensures compliance with legal mandates, and maintains the integrity of DMV databases. This position requires a high level of accountability, attention to detail, and the ability to effectively manage both people and processes within a dynamic legal framework.

Responsibilities Include
• Overseeing the daily operations of the Conviction and Suspension Processing work center, maintaining a thorough understanding of statutory requirements and ensuring compliance with motor vehicle laws
• Setting clear expectations for staff roles and responsibilities, providing guidance and support to ensure effective work performance
• Implementing regular audits and reviews of work center processes and the Driver License Guide to ensure adherence to legal and organizational standards
• Handling escalated customer inquiries and serving as a liaison with external agencies (e.g., Virginia Alcohol Safety Action Program, law enforcement, courts, etc.), ensuring effective collaboration
• Participating in agency-wide projects, contributing to the implementation of new laws and operational enhancements


The Virginia Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV), headquartered in Richmond, Virginia, serves approximately 6.2 million licensed drivers and ID card holders with over 8.4 million registered vehicles. Minimum Qualifications

• Comprehensive knowledge of motor vehicle laws, DMV regulations, and court procedures
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize tasks in a compliance-driven environment
• Advanced customer service skills, with a focus on problem-solving and delivering accurate, timely solutions
• Proficiency in using online document and record management system (e.g. CSS and DMV’s OnBase system)
• Experience managing staff, including team leadership, conflict resolution, and staff development
• Experience interpreting and applying laws and regulations in a fast-paced, compliance-focused environment
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, ensuring clarity in both internal and external communications

Additional Considerations

• Familiarity with legal terminology and the ability to interpret court orders and other legal documents
• Prior experience handling court orders, legal documents, or customer records in a DMV or similar legal/regulatory setting
• Experience working in a role that requires direct coordination with law enforcement, courts, or other government agencies
