Job Duties

Western State Hospital is seeking a part time/wage DSA Admissions candidate to serve as the Primary Intake Coordinator after hours in the WSH Admission Office as part of a multidisciplinary team that coordinates primarily TDO admissions to the facility. Provide a welcoming and recovery-oriented environment while assisting newly admitted patients with registration and admission to the facility.

This position will receive referral calls from CSBs; screen referrals and provide consultation when appropriate; assess needs of referrals and recommend alternative placement ideas or resources; present referral information to assigned Admissions Office Psychiatrist/OD for approval; build and maintain relationships with CSBs, Emergency Services, private hospitals, other state facilities, CSUs, Substance abuse treatment facilities, WSH staff and other community resources; and interview and assist newly admitted patients with registration and adjustment to admission.

Minimum Qualifications

- Experience working with consumers with serious mental illness
- Experience working independently making critical decisions
- Computer experience in a health care setting, such as CSB, hospital, outpatient clinic
- Ability to work flexible schedule primarily 2nd and 3rd shift

Additional Considerations

- Experience working with Electronic Medical Record/interfaces from other software programs (Avatar/Microsoft Office)
- Knowledge of community resources for the SMI population
- Knowledge of Substance Use Disorders and community-based treatment options
- Knowledge of programming security access systems. Associate or bachelor’s degree in human service field
