These are the foundational drivers of our success and, as an Engineer Contract Administration Small Projects you will play a crucial role in shaping the highways that connect communities and drive progress across the Commonwealth of Virginia. This position will provide technical advice, guidance and training regarding assigned engineering program areas. Prepare analyses, reports, and recommendations based on engineering determinations. Provide engineering support and consultation related to engineering program area. Effectively manage assigned projects to ensure timely and accurate completion. Communicate with internal VDOT staff, local government staff, consultants, citizens and FHWA regarding transportation projects and programs.

Minimum Qualifications
Ability to read and interpret transportation plans and estimate and calculate quantities for project estimates and contracts.
Valid driver's license.
Skill in contract negotiations.
Experience developing contract documents.
Knowledge of construction and maintenance contract administration policies and procedures.
Skill in the use of computers and software applications to include project management and engineering software programs.
Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing with diverse groups.
Additional Considerations
A combination of training, experience, or education in Civil Engineering or related field desired.
EIT or PE license.
Experience in roadway design.
Land surveying experience
County Land Records lookup experience
