Job Duties

Perform daily duties of a large farm operation which includes production of row crops, vegetable crops, lumber products, maintenance of buildings, grounds, roadways and the operation and maintenance of all farm equipment utilizing inmate workforce. Provide training, supervision and evaluation to inmate workforce while performing all farm tasks.

Minimum Qualifications

Knowledge of row and vegetable crops from planting stage to market. General knowledge of maintenance and operation of farm equipment, building construction and land management. Demonstrated ability to operate farm equipment and demonstrated ability to supervise, follow written and oral instructions, keep accurate records and solve practical problems. High School diploma or equivalent and a valid driver’s license. Must have Virginia Commercial Pesticide license or obtain within 12 months for new hire in the areas of application.

Additional Considerations

Agricultural, construction or equipment experience. Possession of Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) and Pesticide Application Permit or the ability to obtain them. Considerable experience in livestock management.
