Job Duties

The Human Resources Department in the Office of Executive Secretary of the Supreme Court of Virginia has an exciting career opportunity for an experienced, team-oriented Human Resources Analyst eager to provide advanced-level human resources services in a high-volume, fast-paced HR office. The successful candidate will have demonstrated hands-on work experience in a position or positions responsible for multiple functional areas of HR simultaneously, e.g., recruitment, classification and compensation, benefits administration (leave administration, health insurance, retirement), HRIS and employee relations.
Essential Functions
May include researching, analyzing, and determining classification and compensation-related issues to include, but not limited to:
• Assisting supervisors and managers with preparation/revision of Judicial Work Profiles (JWP) as requested
• Conducting salary analyses for new and existing employees, as needed or requested
• Completing position classification audits for new and existing positions
• Managing and resolving complex employee relations issues, including conducting thorough and objective investigations

This position will:
• Provide guidance on HR policies and procedures, ensuring that employees, supervisors, and managers understand their rights and responsibilities
• Collect and analyze data to improve HR strategies and recommend ways to enhance the efficiency of the HR department
• Improve functional productivity and workflow by automating, integrating, and configuring core HR processes across multiple systems
• Develop job aids and relevant training materials, as well as lead training events on HR topics to various audiences throughout the Judicial system
• Require travel (day and overnight) to Judicial system offices statewide to conduct training, attend/facilitate conferences, and perform other HR functions as needed

Minimum Qualifications

• Significant experience in one or more functional areas of human resource management, preferably related to classification, compensation, employee relations, and/or human resources information systems
• Possess extensive knowledge of HR laws and regulations, with the ability to offer guidance and interpretation to Judicial system employees/managers to minimize legal risks and ensure organizational compliance
• Proven ability to research, analyze, develop, and interpret laws, rules, policies, practices, and procedures to make sound decisions. Knowledge of HR best practices and related trends. Proficient in communicating ideas and guidance clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing
• Ability to manage time, work independently, and prioritize job duties to perform effectively in a fast-paced work environment, while completing assigned tasks successfully

Additional Considerations

• Working knowledge of various software systems such as Cardinal, PeopleSoft, and Oracle Fusion. A basic understanding of Virginia software systems, such as Page Up and VRS Navigator, is a plus
• Proven experience in multiple disciplines of human resources at progressive responsible levels, preferably in state or local government
