Job Description:
The Curator plans, implements, and manages all activities related to collection development, access, use, outreach, and programming for the Naro Video @ ODU Libraries collection; works with Libraries personnel across multiple departments to refine workflows and procedures, purchases films in appropriate formats, develops outreach strategies, and maintains the collection; and engages with Old Dominion University faculty and students and members of the greater Hampton Roads community on programming that connects the collection with the teaching and research objectives of the University.
Minimum Qualifications:

  • Considerable knowledge of film history, genres, technical presentation standards, and media formats
  • Considerable ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both verbally and an in writing
  • Considerable analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills
  • Considerable knowledge of quality customer service practices
  • Demonstrated basic ability to work with a diverse community of faculty, students, venue management, vendors, and the general public
  • Demonstrated basic ability to work independently and as a member of a team
  • Demonstrated basic ability and follow and interpret complex policies and procedures in the execution of detail-oriented work
  • Demonstrated basic ability to exercise independent judgment and decision-making within general guidelines/procedures
  • Considerable interpersonal skills and ability to form and maintain productive working relationships
