The essential responsibilities for this position are to develop and deliver Rehabilitative Occupational Therapy to gero psychiatric patients, manage caseload and provide clinical supervision of a COTA. They will adhere to AOTA and state regulations, and facility and department instruction/policies and guidelines. The successful candidate should be prepared to complete OT assessments both standardized and per clinical judgement. They will develop and implement appropriate treatment plans per MD approval. The OTR will successfully collaborate with an Interdisciplinary Treatment Team. They will demonstrate professionalism and demonstrate team building characteristics. The OT will also provide research and recommendations for ordering and trials of seating/positioning options per pt. needs. This position requires a working knowledge of Occupational Therapy for elderly patients. • Knowledge of OT principles and practices • Competency in client assessment – utilizing standardized testing as appropriate, i.e. KELS • Experience in documentation both written and utilizing EHR • Competency in developing age appropriate treatment plans • Experience in case management • Experience in supervision of a COTA • Good Time Management Skills essential • Skills in utilization of adaptive equipment for elderly/psychiatric patient • Skills in individualizing activities to improve functionality • Apply good clinical judgement based on pt. status • Apply knowledge of seating and positioning for comfort/alignment/function
Minimum Qualifications
Must have current licensure with the Board of Medicine in the state of VA to practice OT with no suspensions.
