Position Summary:

The Department of Health Policy is seeking a part-time Research Assistant in support of research activities under the supervision of a faculty member, Dr. Andrew Barnes.

Job Duties & Responsibilities:

Responsibilities may include but are not limited to:

Assist with surveys of Virginia Medicaid members on a variety of topics, such as substance use disorders, postpartum care, and member experiences with care.
Assist in the coordination of research processes and documentation which may include filing, office organization, and mailings.
Provide administrative support to research activities which may include reviewing research materials in Microsoft Word, Excel, and REDCap.
Assist the research coordinator in drafting budgets, scheduling Zoom/telephone interviews, and supply ordering.
Meets with research team regularly to maintain ongoing communication regarding the quality of the research assistant's performance.
Performs other related duties as required.

Required Qualifications:

Detail-oriented
Ability to follow instruction
Excellent communication skills
Proven ability to think critically and operate from a place of sound judgment
Ability to be responsible with data and adhere to strict privacy and confidentiality protocols
Proactive personality with willingness to ask questions when unsure
Demonstrated experience working in and fostering an environment of respect, professionalism and civility with a population of faculty, staff, and students from various backgrounds and experiences, or a commitment to do so as an hourly employee at VCU.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience with conducting surveys of Virginia Medicaid members
Previous office work or research experience preferred
Ability to move and lift heavy boxes (20+ pounds)
