Job Duties

Responsible for the registration of all patients admitted to the facility with attainment of identifying biographical and legal information. Facilitates an efficient registration process while maintaining adherence to established hospital and departmental policy. Knowledgeable of state and federal laws regarding the legal status(es) of our patients, as well as maintaining accurate statistics within the patient information system. Maintain accurate patient photo, court docket, master patient index database.

• Ability to gather data, compile, analyze, and interpret statistical information.
• Knowledge of auditing concepts and principles.
• Practical knowledge of medical terminology.
• Ability to use independent judgment to manage and protect confidential information.
• Ability to maintain organizational quality standards.
• Ability to identify, analyze, and solve problems using critical thinking skills.
• Knowledge of the organization, design, structure of patient medical charts.
• Practical knowledge and skill in the use of AVATAR, Millennium, and other EHR
programs as identified.
• Ability to conduct patient registration and admissions activities within standard as
directed by management.
• Demonstrate intermediate and advanced skills in the use Microsoft office products
(Word, Excel, PPT)
• Ability to scan and quality check documents uploaded into the EHR.
• Demonstrate skill in filing of paper charts.
• Knowledge of various types of court orders and legal commitment processes.

Minimum Qualifications

• Driver's license required.

Additional Considerations

• High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Experience in a psychiatric, healthcare facility, acute care, long-term care, or correction
setting preferred.
• Prefer BA/BS in a Human Services field.
• Prefer experience with electronic health records.
• Training in business analytics, financial reimbursement, project management tasks.
• Proficiency in computer applications, advanced skills with Microsoft Office programs,
data entry/business analytics software with skills in the development charts, graphs,
and spreadsheets.
• Ability to conduct technical briefings to peers, senior leaders and cooperate
partners.
• Thorough Knowledge of Medical terminology needed.
• Experience/training in auditing of patient health records for quality measures and
Joint Commission standards.
• Basic level training in medical coding processes using ICD-10, CPT and DSM-5.
• Ability to pursue advanced training in a Medical Coding Program and certified through
a national medical coding certification program.

These positions are hourly/wage and not eligible for benefits. Hourly (wage) employees may not work more than 29 hours a week and are limited to working 1500 hours in a year.
