About the Position:

The Virginia State Police (VSP) is seeking to hire a Program Support Technician Senior in our Criminal Justice Information Services Division at State Police Headquarters in North Chesterfield, Virginia. The successful candidate will research and apply missing dispositions on criminal history records in response to civil restorations of rights, firearm restoration of rights, simple and absolute pardons on the Virginia Criminal History record; scan barcoded applicant fingerprint cards and accurately enter descriptive data into the Computerized Applicant Tracking System (CATS); scan fingerprint cards and enter descriptive data to establish and/or update the Master Name / BRS and Computerized Criminal History (CCH) system files using the NIST Card Scanning System; research and process criminal record requests from criminal justice agencies, requesting background checks and criminal history information; and archive supporting documentation into Integra archive database.

Minimum Qualifications

•Considerable knowledge of office practices and procedures.
•Working knowledge of basic legal principles and of operating document scanners.
•Skill in operating computers and using Microsoft Office applications and other automated equipment.
•Demonstrated ability to research and analyze court disposition errors and questionable data by applying established policies, procedures, laws, and regulations, and resolve errors using independent judgement; to utilize advanced research, analytical, customer service, organizational and time management skills; to accurately update record information and archive data and records; to generate required correspondence; to work independently and as a member of a team; to follow oral and written instructions and pay close attention to details; to effectively communicate in English orally and in writing with individuals at various law enforcement agencies, judicial staff, and the general public; and to respond professionally and efficiently to telephone inquiries.
•Experience in reviewing criminal history records and legal documents for discrepancies.
•High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
•Must be eligible to become Virginia Criminal Information Network (VCIN) certified, which requires either being a United States citizen or a lawful permanent resident of the United States and eligible for naturalization.
